It was a place filled with memories both cherished and painful. He used the proceeds to buy 90 hectares in the commune of Bandol. His choice was driven by a profound desire to break away from the past. He wanted to build a new life in France. He couldn’t bear the thought of returning to Italy. The country had changed irreparably during the conflict.
