A Unique Journey
I have always been an outsider. Having children was never a goal, but seeing the world was. I dedicated most of my thirties to working between 12 and 16 hours a day. I worked six days a week. I often juggled up to four jobs at a time. A free evening was joyfully spent at home with takeout Chinese food and a bottle of wine. The idea of dressing up, putting on makeup, and taking the subway did not appeal to me. Sitting in a noisy restaurant was also not enticing. Once again, I had other goals for myself. After moving abroad, I began to open up to the idea of settling down. After two years in France, I concluded that French men were only interested in cheese and sex. I HAD ENOUGH. Even my good friend suggested that I needed a boyfriend to improve my French. At that time, I was between two places to live. I was also between two jobs. Finding a boyfriend was not a priority. It wasn’t a desire either.
Shortly after that, I relocated to a town just 45 minutes away, for a job. I was living in a temporary apartment. That’s when I first met Eric. He was by chance watching the sanguine from his balcony. We were married nine months later.
See how that works? never wanted children = found by my husband just as I turned 50. Wanted to live in southern France= met him in a residential cul de sac aka 4 Vents.
