Adventures of a NYCGURLXPAT
I thought I do a story time series of funny, bizarre and hopefully somewhat inspirational for my blog & channel. These are all stories that happened before I met my amazing husband.

STORIES FROM MY single expat DAYS

I arrived in Aix in August 2021. I had a friend that I met when I lived in Nice in 2015, the year I lived there from 2015 to 2016, and we remained friends. He was the director of my local post office where I would go to retrieve my packages. He was always incredibly helpful, such a gentleman. I informed him that I was looking for an apartment.

About a week after a friend hinted at a phone call regarding something important, I received a call from an unknown number, where a non-English speaking person claimed to be his wife and instructed me not to contact him. I found it frustrating, as we had only met a couple of times and discussed American politics extensively, yet he never mentioned a girlfriend or wife.

If you have a problem in your relationship, you need to address that with the person you are in a relationship with. This was completely uncalled for, as most of our communication had taken place in the afternoon at the post office, so I pretended not to speak. I told her I didn’t understand in French, and I made her work for it because, again, she was interrupting me. But at the same time, this man had been so gracious, and I didn’t want to do anything that would cause him unnecessary grief.

I could see this girl was not in control of her emotions, and that can be very dangerous, so I pacified her, and she said she understood. I pacified her by telling her the truth; he was somebody who helped me with my postal services, as he was not only the Director but the only English-speaking person in the office. She said she understood and hung up the phone.

Stay tuned for part 2…. “What’s Love Got to Do w It?”
