Continuing a tradition of Love, and Friendships
I met my husband mid-air during a leap of faith. It was a moment that felt orchestrated by fate. It marked the beginning of a beautiful journey together. I relocated from the trendy city of Aix en Provence.I moved to the picturesque coastal town of Bandol. It boasts stunning views of azure waters and lush vineyards. In Bandol, I rented a temporary apartment right next door to 4 Vents family farm. This unexpected move was the catalyst for a life-changing meeting. It was in this idyllic setting that I truly embraced the French culture and lifestyle. This embracing ultimately led to my meeting with a passionate French farmer. Eric’s love for the land and community echoed my own adventurous spirit. Reflecting on those early days, I realize that renting that particular short-term apartment was pivotal. It was more than just a place to stay. It was the backdrop for countless conversations, shared meals, and laughter. These moments forged our connection. Without that serendipitous choice, our paths would not have crossed. The enchanting love story that followed may never have been written. We married within ten months of meeting. This quick marriage was a testament to the power of fate. It also illustrated the magic of new beginnings.

I have a new life as a lady of leisure. I spend the days writing in our sun-drenched living room that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. Everyday brings new inspiration, with no shortage of projects and ideas; learning French, learning the culture and family traditions. Our home was built & designed by my husband’s grandfather August Berger. Built on land purchased by Eric’s great grandparents just after WW2. We eat wild mushrooms foraged by in a tradition learned from Eric’s grandmother Emma, (wife of August, pictured above ). We cook with wild thyme that grows in the fields surrounding the hunting lodge. In summer the Syrah grapes are sweet and plumb. We eat fresh eggs provided by our chickens. Giles (Eric’s brother) feeds the wild pigs (sanglier). The smoldering sunsets of fuchsia, gold, and orange. Marinating in creativity, I felt inspired to create this blog. My goal is to inspire others to take a leap of faith.
Looking through the photo albums, I can see the legacy of love, that is my husband’s heritage. Take Jules & Lucy(pictured in the black and white photo.) The pair were inseparable and always locked in some form of contact, arm in arm, holding hands etc. It comes as no surprise, that they transitioned twelve days apart. I understand my husband’s love heritage. I am beyond grateful to be part of this legacy of love and creativity.
Are you thinking of taking a leap of faith? What would you do if you were guaranteed to succeed? Ready? The leap is it’s own reward…
