How Life Rewrites Our Best Plans

“I dream of a small civil wedding and an extended honeymoon traveling through Europe.”

I saw that post and smiled hard.

Because… same.

Except it didn’t happen like that.

I didn’t meet the man, plan the wedding, and then set off for Europe in a shower of rose petals and carry-on luggage.

Instead, I moved abroad alone. I declared loudly (and maybe defensively) that I would make money, thrive, and live my best single life under the Mediterranean sun.

And voilà…

Somewhere between reinvention and rebuilding, in the quiet corners of unexpected freedom, I fell in love.

And not just the romantic kind—love for a man, yes—but also a deep, stubborn love for my own life.

The Magic of Reversed Dreams

We are taught to dream in a straight line:

Girl meets boy →  He proposes → They marry →  They travel the world.

But for so many of us, the path curves, backtracks, spirals—and still arrives exactly where we need to be.

I didn’t start with a wedding. I started with a goodbye.

To NYC.To a degree of certainty.

To being the version of me who needed a plan for everything.

What followed was a solo flight across the ocean…

A new country…

A second language…

And eventually, a vineyard-side love story that I couldn’t have dreamed up if I tried.

Dreams Come True (But Not On Cue)

There’s this beautiful concept I call Dreaming in Reverse—

It’s when your wildest hopes sneak up behind you.

When the timeline shatters, but the outcome *still* manifests.

Think About it…

 The baby after the breakup.

 The career after the so-called failure.

The partner after you finally stop looking.

What if your “detour” is the dream in disguise?

Here’s what I’ve learned:

-Sometimes the dream shows up wearing different shoes.

-Sometimes *you* have to become the version of you who’s ready to receive it.

-Sometimes, it all works out—but not until you let go of how you thought it would.
