Before You Were Ready, You Were Already Building It
On exhaustion, stillness, and the plans you make before you know you’re making them
It’s almost 11 AM on a Friday and I am not ready to work.

My neck is tight. My shoulders are carrying the weight of a week spent hunched over a screen with intention — real intention, the kind that feels different in your body than busy-ness does. I’ve been relaunching my YouTube channel, quietly, privately, not a single video published yet, and somehow I am tired in that particular way that only comes from caring deeply about something.
And here’s the thing I’ve been wrestling with this morning: I almost didn’t let myself feel it.
Because I have the luxury of working on my passion. Because it’s my husband who goes out into the world and handles the financial weight of our lives. Because who am I to be exhausted when I’ve been doing something I love?
But I gave myself the morning anyway. Silence. No agenda. Just rest.
And in that rest, something came.
Here’s a story I’ve been sitting with. Watch the video here…
In August of 2023, I was days away from losing my apartment. A short-term rental, and the time was almost up, and I had nowhere to go. I genuinely did not know where I would be sleeping in a matter of days.
I was getting ready for bed one night — no makeup, no camera setup, no plan — when something inside me became urgent. There is no other word for it. A voice, an instinct, a pull that would not let me settle. Do it. Do it now. Right now. Pick up the camera.
Not to post it. Not for an audience. Just to capture what I was feeling in that moment, because something in me insisted that it mattered.
So I did.
Fast forward to the middle of June the following year. My now-husband was on the phone going over available wedding dates for that summer. He listed one out loud — August 3rd — and before I had even finished processing the words, something in me said that’s it. That’s our day. Immediate. Certain. No deliberation.
We got married on August 3rd.
Months later, I was going through old videos and I pulled up that late-night, no-makeup, nowhere-to-go recording from 2023.
The timestamp read: August 3rd.
I had filmed it exactly one year — to the day — before my wedding. I had no idea. The date meant nothing to me then. There was no significance I was reaching for, no symbolism I was constructing. I was just a woman listening to a voice inside herself that refused to be quiet.
I’ve been thinking about what to call that.
The easy thing would be to call it coincidence. The spiritual thing would be to call it manifestation. But I think the most honest thing I can say is this: I was paying attention. I was present enough, still enough, trusting enough to follow something I couldn’t explain — twice. And those two unconnected moments of listening turned out to be the same moment.
We are so often creating things we don’t yet have language for.
This morning, still in my silence, still not ready to work, the idea came to me to link my old videos into my relaunch. To upcycle the content — not just the footage, but the meaning. To let the woman I was then, inform the story I’m telling now, with more intentionality, more continuity, more direction than I had before.
That idea didn’t come from pushing. It came from rest.
Which brings me to what I actually want to say to you today:
Give yourself the morning.
Give yourself the silence before you feel ready. Give yourself the grace of being tired from work that matters even when — especially when — you feel like you haven’t earned it yet. Stop treating stillness like a delay and start recognizing it as part of the process.
You cannot hear the urgent voice if you are always moving.
You cannot notice the August 3rds in your own life if you never slow down enough to look at the timestamps.
The girl in that video had no idea what she was doing. She just listened.
Turns out, she was planning her future.
So are you.
If this resonated with you, I’d love to know — have you ever looked back and realized you were building something before you knew what you were building?
